Bialystok is 200 km away from Warsaw. By car, it takes 2 hours to reach Bialystok from Warsaw on the expressway. Expect heavy traffic in Warsaw, but slow-downs on the expressway are unlikely.

Bialystok does not have an airport, but you can conveniently reach Bialystok from Warsaw by train or bus:

  • If you arrive in Warsaw by air, check Zak express bus that goes from Chopin airport direct to Bialystok (around 3 hours): https://zakexpress.pl/en/
  • Alternatively, you can take a cab from the airport to the Central Train Station (1/2 hour ride, Euro 10-15) https://www.intercity.pl/en/ .

It takes 2 hours to reach Bialystok by train from the Central Train Station, 1st class costs Euro 15, 2nd class is Euro 7. “IC” trains are modern and more convenient than “TLK” trains.

If you arrive in Warsaw by train, than it is best to continue by train to Bialystok, you will change at the Central Train Station, check the schedule https://www.intercity.pl/en/

Taxi from Bialystok train station to a hotel (any) will be below Euro 5.

Be sure to have some Polish zloty. You can change foreign currency to zloy in money exchange points called Kantor.
