COMPETITION OBJECTIVES
The competition has the following objectives:
- improving the level of engineering diplomas in the field of IT,
- increasing the interest of the first-cycle degree students in the subject of Software Engineering,
- encouraging graduates of engineering first-cycle degree studies to develop their professional aspirations in the context of Software Engineering, including undertaking master’s theses related to this discipline,
- to enable the exchange of knowledge and experience of different academic communities as well as to build contacts during the presentations of the best works.
PARTICIPATION IN THE COMPETITION
The competition is open to all first-cycle degree engineering graduates from higher education institutions in Poland (including citizens of other countries) whose thesis concerns computer science and who submitted and defended their engineering diploma in the academic 2020/2021.
The competition is dedicated to works in the field of Computer Science and is open to both one-person works and those carried out by teams of diploma students. The authors of all awarded works will take part in a special session during the KKIO 2021 Conference, during which they will present their achievements in and will have the opportunity to answer the audience’s questions. The presentations will be held remotely.
The most interesting theses will be invited to submit short papers (in English) to Conference Proceedings (Computing and Informatics, http://www.cai.sk, IF=0.496)
HOW TO SUBMIT YOUR THESIS
- Theses can be submitted only by their authors (at least one).
- Theses must be written in either English or Polish.
- By submitting these authors agree to have their personal data processed by the organizers.
- The authors of the honored theses will be notified via the email addresses provided in the entry registration process. At the same time the information about the honored theses will be posted on the conference website.
- Theses in PDF format must be submitted via EasyChair conference system (account is needed) available at https://easychair.org/conferences/?conf=kkio2021 track: “Competition: Student Engineering Projects” (choose “Full Paper” option).
- Each submission must include an abstract (provided via EasyChair) which must be written in English and should be limited to about 300 words.
EVALUATION CRITERIA
Submitted diplomas will be evaluated against the following criteria:
- Topic originality and method of its implementation
This criterion will evaluate work innovatively in the context of existing solutions, possibilities of practical application, the undertaken approach to identified problem and its implementation.
- Throughout quality
This criterion will evaluate the quality of the work perceived in multiple dimensions such as maturity of final results, comprehensibility and clarity of the thesis, completeness in terms of information contained, editorial level.
- Closeness with the Software Engineering research discipline
The competition will promote works related to the subject of Software Engineering. Additional points may be awarded for works describing solutions supporting Software Engineering processes, such as software quality assessment tools, tools supporting automatic testing, communication or source code implementation and others of similar kind.
The diplomas will be evaluated by competition committee as well as experienced reviewers assigned by the committee. Committee decisions cannot be appealed.
INFORMATION CLAUSE
- The administrator of your personal data is the University of Science and Technology, based in al. Mickiewicza 30, Krakow.
- Your personal data shall be processed for the purpose of organizing and conducting the competition in accordance with the Rules of the Competition.
- Providing data is voluntary, but necessary to achieve the purposes for which they were collected.
- The data will not be disclosed to external entities.
- The data will be stored for the time necessary to achieve the above objectives.
- You have the right to access your data and subject to the law: the right to rectify, delete, limit processing, the right to data portability, the right to object.
- You have the right to withdraw consent at any time without affecting the legality of the processing, which was carried out on the basis of consent before its withdrawal.

- Your data will not be processed in an automated manner and will not be subject to profiling.
